All Aboard the Strasburg Railroad
The Strasburg Railroad is the oldest continuously operating train in the western hemisphere and it provides the region with a variety of fun activities and recreational opportunities. From dining aboard to a roleplaying train robbery, Strasburg Railroad is one of the most exciting attractions in Lancaster County and one that is rich with heritage.
Enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment is a great way to pass the time on a train ride. Travel down the track to Paradise, PA and back on a luxurious Wine and Cheese first-class parlor train ride. October dates include the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th at 6PM. Tickets are $38 and include first-class accommodations on the parlor or lounge cars and complimentary wine, cheese, and crackers, as well as beer and other beverages.
On October 27th, attend Act 1 of the Murder Mystery Dinner Train. This popular and unique style of entertainment and dinner is guaranteed to give you an enjoyable experience. Just don’t miss any clues! Click here for more information.
Ride the train to designated picnic groves along the train’s route for a casual and laid-back light lunch. Just board the train with your cooler and let the trainman know when you wish to get off at one of the picnic groves, Groff’s Grove and Leaman Place Grove. Groff’s Grove, located near Cherry Crest Adventure Farm, also has access to the farm’s corn maze. Leaman Place Grove is at the end of the 4.5-mile track. Disembark and enjoy your picnic in the shade of the trees and soak in the fall foliage view. Book online or check availability by clicking here.
The Great Train Robbery is an interactive experience that offers excitement and adventure as you travel through scenic Amish country on a 45-minute train ride. Be transported back in time to 1934; an A-list celebrity is traveling aboard the train you’re on and has flaunted her immense wealth, jewels, and high fashion the whole time. But there have been sightings of Bonnie and Clyde about and on this ride, they’ll rob you poor! All real money “donated” to the robbers will go to the Clinic for Special Children. With the contributions from the April and July excursions, Strasburg Railroad has raised almost $1,500 for the Clinic for Special Children. The Great Train Robbery takes place on October 20 with a 4 PM departure. Tickets are $28.00.
There are even more great events to be enjoyed at the Strasburg Railroad than these! For a full list, visit the website and plan your Strasburg train trip today with a stay at After Eight Bed & Breakfast.
