Candlelight Tours of Rock Ford Plantation
Nestled along the Conestoga River in Lancaster County Central Park, one of the city’s most historic buildings remains largely unchanged. The four-story Georgian-style brick mansion of Rock Ford Plantation features a wraparound porch on three sides, breathtaking period furniture, and historic family heirlooms original to the Hand family. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Rock Ford Plantation is the most intact building predating 1800 in Lancaster County and offers visitors a chance to look into the refined country lifestyle more than two centuries ago, and it’s only a few steps from downtown Lancaster City.
The 33-acre estate reopens its doors and celebrates the holidays the 18th-century way. Step back in time to learn about the Yuletide traditions and customs of Rock Ford Plantation on a candlelight or daylight open house tour. Beautiful music will fill the air and period dancing will take place in the first-floor hallway. Explore the house at your own pace and arrive anytime between opening and 45 minutes prior to closing.
Yuletide candlelight tours will be offered on December 26th and 27th from 4-8 PM and daylight tours will be offered on December 28th, 10 AM-3 PM. Tickets to the Yuletide tours at Rock Ford Plantation are $10 for adults. For more information, visit the Rock Ford Plantation website and plan your visit today.
