Experience an Amish Farm and House
America’s original and longest running Amish tour attraction is the Amish Farm and House. The property dates back to Pennsylvania’s founder William Penn. For 150 years, Quakers, Mennonites and Amish owned the property – all operating the quintessential PA German Farm. Today, it serves as a tourist attraction where generations of visitors to Lancaster County have been educated and entertained. Tour the historic 1805 Farmhouse and 15-acre farm. The 45-minute tour provides the history of the Amish community and how they function without electricity. The Farmhouse Tours run throughout the day and offer a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Old Order Amish. Open seven days a week from 9am to 6pm. The gift shop features a variety of Amish gifts, locally made jellies and homemade candies. Take a piece of Amish culture home with you.
To further experience the Amish heritage, participate in the “A Taste of Amish Country” dinner tour. Enjoy an evening in the Amish countryside under the direction of a trained driver-guide. You’ll explore the backroads of Lancaster County and hear the history and local stories. Stops along the way include Amish businesses where you can purchase a variety of Amish made goods. The best part of the tour is dinner at a locally owned restaurant with an Amish staff. Tours are available June 22nd through September 5th and leave promptly from the Farm at 4pm.
