Lancaster County Wine and Ale Trails
The timeless arts of winemaking and craft brewing has important roots in Pennsylvania – older than the commonwealth itself. Today that strong tradition continues, as evidenced by the growing number of wineries and breweries from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh and everywhere in between. Pennsylvania ranks fourth in the country in wine production and sixth for the most craft breweries. If you want to sample Lancaster County's beer and wine offerings during your next stay with us at After Eight Bed & Breakfast, you should check out Lancaster's Wine and Ale Trails.
Promoted by Discover Lancaster, the Lancaster Wine Trail and the Lancaster Ale Trail are self-guided, year-round tasting adventures. Together they feature 11 wineries, 31 breweries and one meadery, all situated in the heart of Central Pennsylvania’s beautiful rolling hills of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

Check off two trail stops with one visit to the Mount Hope Wine Gallery in Bird-in-Hand, a 6-minute drive from our historic inn. On the first floor of the wine gallery, taste a sample of Mount Hope's distinctive wines while guided by knowledgeable staff. The second floor is where you'll find Rumpringa Brewing Co., Mount Hope's nano-brewery. Enjoy year-round favorites and seasonal specialties of their handcrafted beers.
For the most breweries in close proximity to each other, head to Lancaster City where you'll find a collection of innovative taphouses. Lancaster Brewing Company produces more than 30 specialty, seasonal and year-round ales and lagers. Take free guided tour at Spring House Brewing Co. to learn how they bring their craft beers to life. Cartel Brewing & Blending is a nano-brewery focused on small-batch beers that add their own flair to traditional beer styles.
There's one stop you'll find on both the wine trail and the ale trail... and that's the Meduseld Meadery. Mead is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey. Meduseld Meadery finely crafts small-batch meads from the best local honey. While you're visiting the mead hall, try your hand a some axe throwing!
