Taste Tuscany-Inspired Wines at Waltz Vineyards
The fall harvest season brings an abundance of crops to the thousands of farms dotting the beautiful countryside across Lancaster County. At Waltz Vineyards in Manheim, they're picking the grapes that will become the next vintage of distinctive estate-grown wines. Sample the fruits of their labor with a wine tasting at Waltz's European-inspired tasting room during your next stay with us at After Eight Bed and Breakfast.
Situated atop a hill on the sixth-generation Waltz family farm, this boutique winery overlooks 35 acres of grapevines that yield 150 tons of wine grapes. The view is so intoxicating that you can almost imagine yourself overlooking vineyards in Northern Italy or Central France! The continental climate is similar here, too, providing optimal growing conditions. Seven varieties of grapes are grown here – three reds and four whites – including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Waltz Vineyards opened its estate tasting room in 2009, and since then has offered visitors an invitation to relax and savor its award-winning wines for a unique tasting experience. Make a tasting reservation for a five-sample flight that allows you to try a variety of current release wines. You also can sip on a glass of wine while you explore the winery, view local artwork on display, and nibble on artisan cheeses, crackers and chocolates.
Waltz Vineyards has come a long way from its humble beginnings. What started with their first batch of wine made in a garage in 2000 has grown into a thriving winery that produces 7,500 cases of exceptional wine each year. Their dedication to quality and passion for winemaking is evident in every bottle, and a visit to their beautiful vineyard offers a chance to experience it firsthand.
Be sure to explore this true gem of Lancaster County's wine scene when you stay with us at After Eight Bed and Breakfast. You can also stop by their wine shop at Kitchen Kettle Village, where you can sip a glass of wine on the patio and purchase a bottle or two to take home.
