Tour the Estate of Nissley Vineyards
Situated in the western reaches of the fertile Lancaster Valley viticultural area, Nissley Vineyards has been producing and bottling wine for over 40 years. With beautiful, perfectly manicured grounds, Nissley Vineyards has become one of the region’s favorite destinations. Visit the estate for guided or self-guided educational tours, enjoy samples in the tasting room, and browse the bottles of the wine shop.
On your tour, walk among the tall wine tanks as you learn about the wine-making process. You may also see grapes being crushed and pressed. If you’d rather guide yourself, pick up a booklet and allow 30-45 minutes to complete your tour. There is no fee for the self-guided tour. Your tasting will follow the tour, with six samples per person, and is done at various places in the winery like the main production room’s fireplace on colder days.
After your tasting, you’ll be able to sample nearly all of Nissley’s available wines for just five dollars; the fee is waived if you end up purchasing some to take home. Taste the light-bodied and fruity Whisper White, uniquely blended with pear wine, or the season feature Merlot with its medium body, lightly oaked, and aged in stainless steel. Not sure what your favorite flavor is yet? Try Naughty Marietta, Nissley’s flagship red and an original since 1978. Concord is sweet and grapey, described as “grape juice with a kick,” while the natural spices of Spicy Red is a good pick as we approach the winter months (serve warmed).
