Two Classic Tales on Stage at The Fulton
Celebrate the season with a night out at Central Pennsylvania's nationally regarded regional theatre, The Fulton Opera House, known locally as simply The Fulton. Located in historic downtown Lancaster, The Fulton is reportedly the oldest working theatre in the United States and has played host to such theatre luminaries as Ethel Barrymore, Sarah Bernhardt and Goerge M. Cohan. Renowned for its ornate Victorian architecture, The Fulton was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. A $9.5 million renovation and expansion project was completed in 1995, restoring the splendor of the 169-year old structure while adding comfort and convenience for theatergoers.
In December, choose from two productions, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on the main stage and the classic holiday tale of redemption and renewal, Jacob Marley's A Christmas Carol, as part of The Fulton's studio series.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is The Fulton's largest production in its history. It features dozens of custom and handcrafted costumes and a carriage built exclusively for The Fulton that transforms before your eyes. The Fulton was granted special rights for this enchanted version, with inclusiveness and diversity. Young and old alike will enjoy this grand fairy tale.
Cinderella runs through January 2, 2022. Approximate runtime: 2 hours 20 minutes (includes a 20-minute intermission). Evening and matinee performances are available. Purchase tickets.
Jacob Marley's A Christmas Carol tells the story of the miser Ebenezer Scrooge who, on Christmas eve, is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who died seven years prior. Marley returns to warn Scrooge that he will be visited by three other spirits that night which will offer him a chance at redemption. This irreverent, funny and deeply moving story is based on a fictional character in Charles Dickens' 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol.
Jacob Marley's A Christmas Carol runs through December 26. Approximate runtime: 2 hours 20 minutes (includes a 20-minute intermission). Evening and matinee performances are available. Purchase tickets.
Masks are required for both productions and must be worn at all times except while eating or drinking in the theatre or lobby areas.
Plan a return visit to the After Eight Bed & Breakfast in 2022 and book your tickets for The Fulton's mainstage production of the Tony Award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee—a heartfelt musical comedy that reminds us that winning (and losing) isn't everything. The show runs from January 18 through February 6, 2022. Purchase tickets.
